Mark Polyak is a Lecturer at the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Georgetown University Medical Center. Mr. Polyak also holds the position of Chief Analyst at the Biodefense Division of the ISIS Center at Georgetown University.

Mr. Polyak holds an M.A. in Russian Eurasian and Eastern European Studies from Georgetown University and a BA in History, with departmental honors, from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Prior to his work at ISIS center, Mr. Polyak worked at United States Institute of Peace, where he analyzed connections between oil exploitation and conflict in Former Soviet Union (Nagorno-Karabakh) and Africa (Angola-Cabinda, Gabon, DRC). Additionally, his work included a two year research assistantship with a senior policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars. Mr. Polyak conducted socioeconomic and demographic analysis of such global threats as spread of HIV/AIDS, combination of HIV with such opportunistic diseases as Tuberculosis, Kaposi's sarcoma and Syphilis, analyzing patterns in declining Russian health, and the impact of the outmigration of the Central Asian workforce.
Mr. Polyak co-directs the Integrated Biosurveillance course with Dr. Wilson and also independently directs the Strategic Career Seminar, which is a core graduate requirement.
