Dr. McBride is an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Medical Center, focusing primarily on the graduate program in Biomedical Science Policy & Advocacy. He also holds the rank of Affiliated Professor at the Georgetown Institute for Policy Studies. Summary:
Dr. Dennis McBride is President of the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, a not-for-profit, non-partisan, academically oriented think tank, specializing in science and technology policy. The Institute provides technically based analyses of policy options for Congress, the Administration, and state government. Professor McBride served for 20 years as a Naval officer and scientist, leading national level research and development programs which intersect vital aspects of public policy at all levels of government. His assignments included six Navy laboratories, three R&D headquarters organizations (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Navy Medical R&D Command, Office of Naval Research) and spanned responsibilities that ranged from ergonomics, to modeling and simulation, to operational medicine. He was Executive Director, Institute for Simulation and Training at the University of Central Florida, where he was elected by faculty to Professor, with appointments in Arts and Sciences and in Engineering (home of tenure). Professor McBride has taught and supervised graduate research at several universities, including Penn State, University of West Florida, St. Mary's College, and the Krasnow Institute at George Mason University. He is Co-Editor-in-Chief of the peer-reviewed journal, Technology, Panel Chair for National Academy of Sciences studies, and a member of the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics.
