General Information for Applicants:
Students are selected based on undergraduate record, performance on the General Test of the GRE, a personal statement, recommendations, and, when possible, interviews with members of the department. The following subjects are strongly recommended prerequisites for acceptance into the General Masters or PhD programs: biology, organic chemistry, genetics, physics, physical chemistry, and quantitative analysis.
Admission to the departmental PhD program can also be obtained through the Track and Biomedical Sciences programs. Further information concerning the admissions process can be obtained from the Graduate School Catalog.
Applicants to the Masters Program in Biomedical Science Policy and Advocacy need not have a strong scientific background as the program provides an opportunity for students to take introductory courses in microbiology and immunology. The applicants must have an interest in the field of Microbiology and Immunology and science
Deadlines:
- MS or Certificate, Fall: July 1
- MS or Certificate, Spring: December 1
- PhD only, Summer: February 2 (exceptional applications may be considered after this date and until July 1st on a case-by-case basis)

Financial Assistance

- For applicants awarded a stipend in the PhD program, the stipend is $24,772 for the FY05 fiscal year. An average of 2 students are awarded each year. Thesis research tuition for PhD students is $5000 per annum and Fellows' tuition and several other fees are covered by the University, in addition to their stipend.
