Tuition


Full-time tuition for 2009-2010 is $45,930 per year. Students enrolled for fewer than 12 credits per semester are charged $1,531 per credit. Students who have received approval to enroll for more than 12 credits in a semester will be charged no more than the full-time tuition rate.

Fees
  • Health Insurance: Rates for individual and family coverage under the student health insurance plan change annually; please call (202) 687-4883 for the current rates.
  • "Yates" Recreational Fee: All full-time students are required to pay a recreational facility fee (known as the "Yates" fee). This fee is currently $320. Payment of this fee is optional for part-time students.

    Financial Aid

    Merit-based Assitantships, Scholarships, and Fellowships:
    Assistantships and fellowships normally include a stipend and a full tuition scholarship. For 2009-2010, stipends for the PhD program in Microbioogy & Immunology is $25,500. Only full-time students pursuing the Ph.D. will be considered for assistantship and fellowship awards.


    International Student Aid

    The Arrupe Scholarship enables outstanding students with limited financial resources who are from troubled areas of the world to attend Georgetown. It seeks to provide these students with an education in a Jesuit environment in the United States that will benefit both the students themselves and their communities upon their return to their home country. Prospective students MAY NOT apply directly for the award. Instead, please submit a letter along with your application outlining your qualification for nomination.

    Nominees will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Academic quality of a student's application.
  • Whether the student's home country been significantly affected by experiences of violence or economic devastation, either currently occurring or in its recent history. Previous recipients of the scholarship have come from Afghanistan, Bosnia, Burma, Cameroon, Croatia, Haiti, Ireland, Iraq, Israel, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Nepal, Nigeria, Palestine, Romania, El Salvador, South Africa, and Yugoslavia.
  • The student's prior community service.
  • Indications of the student's plans for future service in his or her home country. Ideally the student is currently residing in the home country.
  • The student's demonstrated financial need.The student's potential to benefit from a Jesuit education at Georgetown.

    Applicants not eligible for the Arrupe scholarship include:
  • Students currently enrolled in a Georgetown graduate program,
  • Students applying to doctoral or joint master's/doctoral programs
  • Students who have permanent U.S. residency (green card holders).
